Small Group Medical coverage is issued on a “Guaranteed Issue” basis. “Guaranteed Issue” means that the insurance company must issue medical insurance regardless of the group’s current medical claims situation. This is one of the primary advantages of being classified as a small group. The insurance company may ask health questions, but this is only done for the purpose of rating the premium to charge for the group health coverage. Small group medical insurance contracts generally offer broader terms as to what is covered compared to individual plans and contracts.
